Cu = 1.5 – 2.5 N = 0.10 – 0.25

Application
DURAMAX E2553-16 has a nominal composition (wt.-%) of 25.5 Cr, 7.5 Ni, 3.4 Mo, 2 Cu, 0.17 N. These electrodes are used primarily to weld duplex stainless steels which contain approximately 25% of chromium. Weld metal deposited by these electrodes has “duplex” microstructure consisting of an austenite-ferrite matrix. The weld metal deposited by DM2553-16 combines increased tensile strength with improved resistance to pitting corrosive attack and stress corrosion cracking. It can be used for joining duplex stainless to carbon or low alloy steel. In the as-welded, or solution annealed condition, the microstructure is duplex with about 25-60% ferrite.
